Efterlyst is a stationery area light with the function of being used as a mobile light source, aiming to improve the quality of life for people being temporarily off the grid.
The lamp continues to illuminate during a power outage due to its integrated battery. The charging station and lamp are designed to be perceived as belonging together. Thus, encouraging the user to connect the two again after use, to ensure that the battery is always charged. For a dynamic user experience, the light is dimmable by three levels controlled by a button located on the handle.
Further, to make the product more approachable we put a lot of emphasis on preventing the lamp from being categorized as a survivor and/or prepper product, as preparing for something bad have a tendency to go against the human nature.
Finally, the shape is inspired by older candlelights in brass.

The democratic design challenge from IKEA was to improve life by using inspiration from off the grid solutions. Improve life connects to the IKEA idea about democratizing great things, to give the many people access to high value products that makes everyday life at home better.
To start the develop phase, we began to brainstorm down quick sketches, rank them and further develop the ones who received a higher score.
Due to the broad brief, a PESTEL analysis was done to identify affected and troublesome areas when "off the grid."
In conclusion, we found the most inspiring and potential theme to be “Temporarily off the grid”
To illustrate the volume of the lamp in real life the authors made quick mock-ups, mostly using paper.
During this project, quick basic CAD models where often used as a tool to explore the concepts sketches in 3D.
The conclusion of the research was visualized by four different persona.
Based on a survey conducted, the most troublesome area, when temporarily off the grid, was convincingly the light, or more specific area light.
This conclusion is based on the fact that most normal activities, during dark hours, such as cooking or reading requires some sort of light to be performed.
The final model was created by powder bed fusion, which is a 3D printing process.
The printed model was later treated with surface finishing processes such as sanding and spraypaint coating.
The final model is charged with induction charging.

The custom cylindrical Plexiglas works in sync with the LED-lamp to provide a 360 degrees arealight.

To achieve mobility, the lamp can easily be removed from the charging station.These two parts are designed to be perceived as belonging together. Thus, encouraging the user to connect the two again after usage, to ensure that the battery is always charged.
This project was made by me and Moa Lundfeldt.
We worked on the project simultaneously except for the 3D modelling and rendering which were made by me, wheres to Moa constructed the electricity for the prototypes.
